Pluribus Shatters Records as Apple TV’s Most Successful Drama Debut
Apple TV has announced that its latest sci-fi drama, Pluribus, has achieved unprecedented success, becoming the platform’s most-watched drama series debut to date. This milestone surpasses the previous record held by the second season of Severance earlier this year. The series, created by Vince Gilligan, renowned for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has captivated audiences worldwide, setting a new benchmark for global drama series launches on the streaming service.
Pluribus has resonated particularly well in countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Mexico, India, and France. New episodes are released every Friday, with the fourth episode scheduled to premiere shortly.
While Apple has not disclosed specific viewership figures, the company has confirmed that Pluribus has set a new record for the service. Independent viewership data from Nielsen is expected to be available in the coming weeks.
The inaugural season of Pluribus comprises nine episodes, with the season finale slated for December 26. A second season is already in development, following Apple’s initial two-season commitment when it secured the rights to the show in 2022 amidst competitive bidding.
The success of Pluribus underscores a strong year for Apple TV, which began with the remarkable growth of Severance season two and is now concluding with another sci-fi sensation. The platform anticipates further audience engagement with the upcoming release of F1: The Movie on December 12.
Looking ahead to 2026, Apple TV plans to enhance subscriber engagement by incorporating Formula 1 and Major League Soccer into its base subscription. The service is available for $12.99 per month and is included in the Apple One bundle.
