Apple Unveils iOS 26.2 Beta: Enhanced Liquid Glass Customization, Reminders Alarms, and More
Apple has recently introduced the iOS 26.2 beta, bringing a suite of enhancements aimed at refining user experience and expanding functionality across its devices. This update introduces customizable Liquid Glass aesthetics, alarm features within the Reminders app, and broadens live translation capabilities for European Union users.
Liquid Glass Customization
The Liquid Glass interface, a hallmark of Apple’s design evolution, now offers users greater control over the Lock Screen clock’s appearance. A newly added slider allows for precise adjustment of the clock’s opacity, enabling users to achieve a range from near transparency to a frosted effect. For those preferring a more traditional look, the option to disable Liquid Glass remains available.
Alarms in the Reminders App
Addressing a longstanding user request, the Reminders app now includes an alarm feature. By setting a specific time for a reminder and activating the Urgent option, users will receive an audible alert at the designated time. This enhancement aims to improve task management and ensure critical activities are not overlooked.
Expansion of Live Translation on AirPods
In a significant update for European users, Apple has expanded the live translation feature on AirPods to the EU. This functionality allows Siri to provide real-time translations directly through AirPods when conversing in different languages. Initially launched in the U.S. and select countries with iOS 26, this feature’s EU rollout required additional adjustments to comply with the Digital Markets Act.
Additional Enhancements
Beyond these key updates, iOS 26.2 beta introduces several other improvements:
– Apple News App: A new Following tab consolidates favorites, saved stories, and browsing history. Quick-access buttons for topics like Food, Politics, Puzzles, and Sports have also been added.
– Apple Podcasts: The app now features AI-generated chapters for episodes, enhancing navigation and content discovery. Additionally, the Podcast Mentions function automatically links to shows referenced during episodes within the description.
– Apple Music: Users can now view song lyrics offline, ensuring access to lyrics without the need for an internet connection.
– Notification Alerts: A new accessibility feature allows the iPhone’s screen to flash upon receiving notifications, providing a visual cue alongside traditional alerts.
The public release of iOS 26.2 is anticipated in December, promising a more personalized and efficient user experience across Apple’s ecosystem.
