Apple has officially opened pre-orders for its latest smartphone lineup, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the all-new iPhone Air. Customers can place their orders starting today, with the first units set to arrive on September 19.
iPhone 17:
The standard iPhone 17 introduces several enhancements over its predecessor. It features a slightly larger 6.3-inch display with thinner bezels and increased peak brightness. For the first time, the base model supports ProMotion technology, offering a high-refresh-rate display, and includes an always-on mode to keep the lock screen visible at all times.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the new 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera and an 18-megapixel front-facing camera equipped with Center Stage. This feature utilizes a square sensor, allowing users to capture landscape selfies without rotating the device. The camera intelligently detects subjects just outside the frame and automatically adjusts to include everyone in the shot.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is powered by the new A19 chip, delivering a noticeable performance boost. Charging speeds have been improved, and the device boasts enhanced durability with Ceramic Shield 2, offering up to three times better scratch resistance. The base model now comes with 256 GB of storage, maintaining its starting price of $799.
iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max:
The Pro models have undergone a significant redesign, now featuring an aluminum body and an edge-to-edge rear camera module. This design shift allows for a larger battery and improved heat dissipation, thanks to a new vapor chamber system. The A19 Pro chip provides up to 40% better sustained performance compared to the previous generation, and battery life has seen substantial improvements.
The front-facing camera includes the Center Stage feature, while the rear setup introduces a 48-megapixel telephoto lens capable of 4x optical zoom and an 8x sensor crop mode. The Pro models are available in three new colors: silver, blue, and a bold orange.
Pricing for the iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099 for the 256 GB model, reflecting a $100 increase from the previous generation. The iPhone 17 Pro Max remains at $1,199 for the 256 GB variant, with a new 2 TB storage option available for the first time.
