Nuro Secures $203 Million in Series E Funding, Valued at $6 Billion

Nuro, a leading autonomous vehicle technology company, has successfully closed a Series E funding round, raising $203 million and achieving a valuation of $6 billion. This funding round attracted significant investments from industry giants such as Nvidia and Uber, alongside existing backers like Baillie Gifford. The latest tranche of $97 million follows an earlier $106 million raised in April 2025, which included contributions from T. Rowe Price Associates, Fidelity Management & Research Company, and Tiger Global Management.

Founded in 2016 by former Google engineers Jiajun Zhu and Dave Ferguson, Nuro initially focused on developing autonomous delivery robots. Over time, the company has shifted its strategy towards licensing its self-driving technology, known as the Nuro Driverâ„¢, to automotive manufacturers and mobility providers. This pivot aims to integrate Nuro’s autonomous systems into commercial fleets, ride-hailing services, and personal vehicles, thereby accelerating the adoption of self-driving technology on a global scale.

Nvidia’s investment in Nuro marks a deepening of the existing technical collaboration between the two companies. Nuro utilizes Nvidia’s GPUs for large-scale data processing and model training, and its latest compute module is built on the Nvidia Drive AGX Thor platform. This partnership underscores the critical role of advanced computing power in the development and deployment of autonomous driving systems.

Uber’s involvement in the funding round is part of a broader strategic partnership announced in July 2025. As part of this collaboration, Uber plans to deploy over 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro’s self-driving technology across multiple markets over the next six years, starting in 2026. This initiative represents a significant step towards the commercialization of autonomous ride-hailing services and highlights the growing confidence in Nuro’s technology.

Despite the current valuation being lower than the $8.6 billion achieved in 2021, Nuro views this outcome positively, considering the evolving market conditions and the increasing focus on artificial intelligence investments. The company has raised over $2.3 billion to date and remains committed to advancing its AI-first autonomous technology and expanding its commercial partnerships.
