Apple has recently updated the packaging for its HomePod mini, transitioning from color-matched boxes to a uniform white design. This change aligns the HomePod mini’s packaging with that of the larger HomePod 2, which also utilizes a white box.
The HomePod mini, introduced in November 2020, has been available in various colors, including space gray, white, blue, yellow, and orange. Previously, each color variant was accompanied by a corresponding box color. The shift to a standardized white box marks a departure from this practice.
This packaging update comes amid reports suggesting that Apple is preparing to release a new generation of the HomePod mini later this year. While the company has not provided specific details about the upcoming model, industry analysts anticipate several enhancements.
One expected upgrade is the incorporation of Apple’s proprietary combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, supporting Wi-Fi 6E. This advancement would offer faster and more reliable connectivity, enhancing Siri’s responsiveness and improving music streaming capabilities. The current HomePod mini supports Wi-Fi 4, so this would be a significant improvement.
